Bechaz was attending the Riverina Football League’s annual vote count evening for football and netball last week as she has done many years in the past.
However, this time around she was shocked to find out the under 17s netball best and fairest honour would now be known as the “Kathryn Foxy Bechaz Medal”.
Bechaz has played more than 350 for the Crows, coached for 18 years and continues to give her all to the sport. The news was met with a standing ovation and Bechaz thanked her parents and husband Scott for their support.
In more good news, 14-year-old star Grace Korovata won the A reserve best and fairest honour, with Carley Graham the equal winner of the B grade title.
Many other netballers also polled well in the count. First grade coach Jade Hodge was named the coach of the year after leading the Crows to back-to-back grand final appearances.
