DIGGAS With Attitude had a tough battle against Purple People Eaters in volleyball this week. The first was evenly poised throughout with Allen Rodrigues and Cath Gray leading the way for Diggas. Nyree Dunn and Grant Johnstone for PPE. Diggas were lucky to the deciding point 25-24.

Ang Clark and Brook Gilmour from PPE worked hard in the second set and with scores level at 13-all, looked like anything could happen until Mitch Cross had a brilliant serving run for Diggas and they pulled away for a 25-14 win.
It was déjà vu in the third with scores again level at 14-all, but this time it was Rodrigues who lifted his serve and the Diggas pulled away again with a 25-18 result and winning the match 3-0. Best: Dunn, Rodrigues and Gray.
Locals and Leftovers. the first and third teams, had some excellent spiking and rallies. Locals got out to a good lead thanks to strong court play by Paul Ta’avao and Solomon Folosaitu. Michael Hammond and Linda Newman tried hard all match for the Leftovers, but the difference was the finishing that led the locals to a 25-19 win in the first set.
Leftovers improved in the second as Kristine Langford and Liam Ryan got into the game more. Again, Folosaitu had a great serving run and stronger play by Tauvela Vetemotu and Faaleage Soli that proved the difference to win 25-23.
Third set was much the same, but this time Leftovers got the 25-22 win. The fourth set was close at 12-all, but another great serving run from Folosaitu and then Faaleaga Sooli, Locals won 25-16 and take the match 3-1. Best: Soli, Folosaitu and Newman.
It was an exciting see-saw affair between Hit Heads and Lethal Legends. The teams had spurts of dominant play thanks to great serving by both sides, with Tracy Catlin and Callum Ryan from Hit Heads leading the way in the first set to get them a strong 25-12 win. Ang Fran and Teala Howe served well in the second set for the Hit Heads and with better court play between Lorraine Kefford, Declan Ryan and Howe, they were able to win 25-17.
The third set saw the Lethal Legends get out to a strong lead, thanks to better court play and serving by Liz Taylor and Allanah Hughes leading to a 25-15 win. Brianna Hughes and Sean Ryan then served well in the fourth set for Legends and they again went on to win 25-19 and take the match to a deciding set. Declan Ryan and Howe then lifted again for the Hit Heads and the Lethal Legends burnt too many tickets getting back into the match. Hit Heads won 15-10 and the match 3-2. Best: Howe, Hughes, Catlin.
