Earlier this month James “Cannonball” Welsh and Chase “Heartbreak Kid” Teerman headed to Deniliquin for Bidgee Boxing’s third trip away as competitors.
Teerman was the third fight of the night and he started his bout calm and relaxed.
However, he came away with another split decision and lost on points.
Coach Neville Bamblett thought Teerman was fit, ready and determined for the win, but the judges again saw it differently as they had at the recent event in Shepparton.
“James Welsh made his debut on the night up against a more experienced fighter,” Bamblett said.
Bamblett believed Welsh had won the first and second rounds.
“Unfortunately a decision was made to stop the fight with just 20 seconds to go.
“Although it was a decision the team didn't agree with, they did agree that although he showed a lot of heart and courage, he did lose a bit of energy towards the end of the fight which resulted in the loss.
“Never the less James was thrilled to get his first fight out of the way.
“Both boys will continue to train hard over the next three months, with their sights set on Dubbo early into next year.”
