Emergency services from Leeton and across the district, including Fire and Rescue NSW, police, paramedics at the Rural Fire Service rushed to the scene about 4.45pm on Thursday.
On arrival at the school they found the inside of a classroom to be well alight and engulfed by flames.
The fire was quickly extinguished and the investigation into what caused the blaze is now underway.
The room at the school was used to teach music, as well as welcoming new children to Yanco Public through its Little Learners program.
The building is separate to the other classroom areas at the school, which were not damaged as a result of the blaze.
No one was injured in the fire.
