Tarnya Grigg rushed to the scene of the fire when she was informed about 5pm on Thursday.
She said it had been hard to see the devastation and students and staff were saddened by the incident.
However, she said the school would be moving forward.
“The biggest thing we want the community to know is this isn’t going to affect student learning (when they return for the new school year at the end of the month) or our Little Learners program,” Ms Grigg said.
The fire destroyed the building where the Little Learners program took place on a weekly basis.
It was also used for music lessons.
Emergency services from Leeton and across the district, including Fire and Rescue NSW, police, paramedics at the Rural Fire Service rushed to the scene about 4.45pm on Thursday.
On arrival at the school they found the inside of a classroom to be well alight and engulfed by flames.
The fire was quickly extinguished and the investigation into what caused the blaze is now underway.
The building is separate to the other classroom areas at the school, which were not damaged as a result of the blaze.
No one was injured in the fire.
Residents have been quick to offer the school support following the incident.
