So far this season just the one two-day match has been played, but the second day was a washout on December 2.
With the skies looking clear this weekend, players will be taking to the field for day one at Narrandera and Yanco.
The Phantoms will be playing the L&D CC Ferrets, who will be backing up the following day for the A grade one-day grand final.
It’s a different kettle of fish for the Phantoms, who haven’t taken to the pitch since December 16.
The two teams will have an interesting battle ahead, with the Ferrets no doubt wanting to get a jump on the Phantoms in order to also make the two-day grand final later this season.
The Ferrets were challenged by the LSC Colts in their first two-day match of the season, but were able to come through with the first innings points.
For the Phantoms this will be their first crack at a two-day match this season after having the bye during the first round of play.
The Phantoms are the dark horse of the competition and do have the ability to win matches.
Both teams will be looking to post a significant total should they be batting first on Saturday in order to build a solid innings. The remaining A grade match will be played at Narrandera Park between the Leeton Soldiers Club Colts and the Narrandera Carpheads.
It will be the second consecutive week the Carpheads have had the home advantage and they will no doubt be using this as part of their strategy against the struggling Colts.
Narrandera were close to making Sunday’s one-day grand final, but missed out, meaning they will be eager to put their heads down and make their way into the two-day decider later this season. Both sides will be keen for a victory to get them on the right path and it will likely come down to which team digs in with the bat.
