Close to two weeks ago a fire destroyed a classroom at Yanco Public School, which had been used for music lessons and the Little Learners program.
Investigations into the blaze are continuing, but in the mean time the Yanco community has pulled together.
Yanco Public principal Tarnya Grigg said the amount of support since the fire had bee overwhelming.
“It’s not just been from people in Yanco, but Leeton, Narrandera and I’ve just had someone from Gundagai Preschool drop some supplies to me,” she said.
“We’ve had donations of books, craft, toy blocks and all kinds of things for the Little Learners program.
“I guess the biggest items we’re after now is musical instruments to replace what was lost.
“Anything like that would be greatly appreciated. We’re already just so thankful for all of the support we’ve had.
“It’s been a sad situation and it’s been hard for the kids even though they aren’t at school, but people have been so kind.
“That makes it a lot easier.”
The school itself is unable to receive cash donations, but any equipment or resources for music lessons or the Little Learners initiative can be dropped off at the school when staff start back from January 29.
Staff will also be in the office during the school break at different stages.
Those wanting to donate can leave a voice message on 6955 7162 and someone will return their call when possible.
