LEETON Shire Council is encouraging residents to take part in the official Australia Day ceremony in Mountford Park on January 26.

The program of events kicks off with a barbecue breakfast from 7.30am to 9am courtesy of the Rotary Club of Leeton.
As part of this breakfast, from 8am there will be musical entertainment on the Federation Stage courtesy of the Leeton Town Band.
The official ceremony will commence at 9.15am with the raising of the Australian and Aboriginal flags, and a Welcome to Country.
There ceremony will feature speeches by the mayor and Australia Day ambassador, as well as the presentation of the shire’s Australia Day awards – including Citizen of the Year – and Sportsperson of the Year awards.
Community members are encouraged to attend and enjoy the morning in the shade of the trees in the park, but should bring a chair or blanket to sit on.
In case of inclement weather, the event will be held at the Roxy Theatre.
The day will conclude with free entry to the Leeton pool from 4pm to 8pm, where there will be Lions train rides, giveaways and music by DJ Stepback, and full canteen facilities.
