Women's bowls news

LSC: PLAYERS battled their way through hot windy conditions and are to be congratulated for their perseverance. However, we do need the practice as we have a few competitive matches coming up.

Winners were Jeannie Plant, Jennie Pike and Lorraine McKellar with runners up of Beryl Breed, Margaret McKenzie and Betty Howard.

Members please note that the next monthly meeting will be on February 28, instead of the usual date.

L&D: A busy time for the ladies at the L&D this month with preparations underway for the prestigious “Towning Shield” which will be held at our club on March 13 and 14. This event attracts 96 competitors to Leeton from six districts within Region 11 and will be hotly contested by all districts entered. Good luck to our home district Murrumbidgee.

The District Championships will commence on Tuesday, February 27, with the Open and Senior Fours being played at Coleambally, the Triples at Leeton Soldiers Club, the Open and Senior Pairs at the L&D and the Singles at Griffith.

A good day for Jan Walker and Marika Pete at social bowls last week, the pairing winning the daily competition, Walker getting a resting toucher prize and Pete winning the lucky draw.

Ladies Thursday social bowls commence at 9.30am, visitors welcome.
