Due to the forecast heat on Saturday the day’s play was reduced to sixty overs rather than the usual 70.
Narrandera made the bold decision to send the Ferrets into bat after winning the toss but was able to make an early breakthrough as Dennis Irvine (1) as caught behind by James Sullivan off the bowling of Rohan Rehwinkel.
Richard Smith (4) followed closely behind when he was knocked over by Jacob Anderson (1/15) to have the Ferrets on 2/23 after 13 overs.
Muir was able to combine with Ben Elwin to get their side moving in the right direction with a 51-run partnership.
The pair got the Ferrets to 74 before Muir fell one run short of his fifth fifty of the season when he was caught behind off the bowling of Jono Doyle.
Mat Axtill (6) fell three overs later as Doyle (2/25) struck again to bring Elwin together with Maclean Crompton.
The pair were able to occupy the crease for a bit over 13 overs and were able to 39 runs and get their side over the hundred mark before Elwin (23) was knocked over by Rehwinkel.
The bowling of Rehwinkel would prove tough for the Ferrets lower order to deal with as he was able to take three quick wickets.
Crompton (28) fell after a 10-run partnership with Ben Killen (6*), Rehwinkel picked up the wickets of Crompton, Bryce O’Garey (7) and Jade Hodge (0) while Mick Foster (1/25) picked up the final wicket of Sam Alampi (0) saw the Ferrets bowled out for 148 in 51.4 overs.
With Narrandera needing to face out a tough period of just nine overs to then start the next day in a positive position of chasing down 148 and picking up first innings points.
Ryan Argus (5*) and Doyle (13*) came to the crease and faced off against the tough bowling attack of Elwin and Muir.
Narrandera was able to make it through to stumps without the loss of a wicket reaching 0/20 and will need to continue their push as they look to chase down the remaining 120 runs.
