In Leeton, it is a time of great celebration every two years as the community hosts the Leeton SunRice Festival.
The biennial festival enlivens and transforms Leeton with a cultural and community celebration recognising the important role the rice industry plays in the region.
It is a time when people of all ages return to the town - university students, young families, older former residents - to soak up the atmosphere such a festive occasion generates.
There is something joyous about the festival and the memories it evokes in people, no matter their age.
From the beautiful and intelligent Rice Princesses or being a student riding a float and representing their school, to the passing parade that stretches on forever or a dodgy dagwood dog that made you so ill but tasted so good.
Everyone has their own festival story to recall.
And no one is ashamed to say they look forward to one of the best weekends on the calendar. There is only genuinely joy and anticipation.
This, then, is what Leeton is all about.
Enjoy your 2018 edition of the SunRice Festival and may all your dagwood dog dreams come true.
