But it’s not just about the natural beauty and national heritage, these days the Snowy Valleys also provides an excellent food and wine destination.
The coldest viticultural region on mainland Australia, the unique climate of the Tumbarumba wine region produces super-premium grapes and is known for its chardonnay, classic sparkling wines and pinot noir.
From two main cellar doors at Tumbarumba Wines Escape and Courabyra Wines, you can sample some of the region’s best wines and dine in beautiful surrounds.
Tumbarumba Wines Escape is a cellar door with a distinctly Tuscan flavour.
You can take a vineyard tour with hosts Garry and Kay Wilson or walk along the boardwalk next to trout filled waters.
The on-site restaurant offers a four course menu or you can choose from a selection of bruschetta, crostini, and woodfired pizza.
At Courabyra Wines a delicious restaurant menu is expertly matched to their wines and makes use of seasonal local produce.
Or you can enjoy their famous ploughman’s lunch platter with a glass of wine on the balcony or in front of the fire.
