The Leeton SunRice Festival parade was one to remember on Saturday and the atmosphere was electric.
Bright and colourful
STARTING off the parade was Leeton shire’s emergency services much to the delight of the many youngsters who lined the streets as their sirens were sounded.
Following on was trucks, motorcycles, vintage cars and more.
Businesses also got into the spirit by decorating vehicles, trucks and more in their logos and fare.
The Easter bunny stopped by, while the shire’s schools were also represented with students jumping aboard to wave to the crowd as they passed by.
Other stars of the show included this year’s Ambassador Quest entrants Lauren Brett, Jay Bloomfield, April Mickan and Isabella Mercuri.
Positive feedback
NOT only did the weather put on the show, but so did the parade.
Every festival, the parade is always an event residents and visitors to town never fail to miss.
The crowd lined both sides of the streets once again as everyone clambered for the best view. Organisers have again received positive feedback as a result and were happy with the turnout.
Favourite floats
THERE were many fabulous displays of floats during the parade.
From schools to community groups, plenty of hard work went into making sure trucks, cars and all sorts of vehicles were festively decorated.
Some of The Irrigator’s personal favourites included the Leeton Breast Cancer Support Group/Leeton Can Assist, Leeton Preschool, Goodstart Early Learning Centre, St Francis College and the ambassadors floats.
While these were among some of the bright, colourful and loud floats, all should be praised for taking the time to be part of the community event.
The verdict
THE parade every SunRice Festival is one of the events not-to-be-missed.
While there is always an “official function” to open the festival, the parade is almost the “unofficial” opening event. This year the parade didn’t disappoint. It epitomized everything that is good about Leeton and its community spirit.
Events like the SunRice Festival are exactly what Leeton does well and there wasn’t a frown in the entire town. So, at the end of the day, what more could you ask for?
