Mrs Hehir, aged 83, passed away at Moree Hospital on March 22 from multiple myeloma, a tragic end to a Christmas visit with her daughter Kath.
She was the eldest daughter of Harry and Alice Marks, born August 27, 1934 in Weethalle.
One of eight children, Mrs Hehir was a sister to Ron, Ken (deceased), Joe, Betty, Gloria, Barry (deceased) and Val.
In July 1952 she married Leigh Francis Hehir from “Boonie Doon” east of Leeton, the youngest son of Jim and Vera Hehir.
Their marriage brought together two of Leeton’s oldest families.
After the farm was sold, Mr and Mrs Hehir relocated into town, living in Wandoo Street for the past 20 years.
Mr Hehir passed away in 2011.
Mrs Hehir loved her family and was proud of her two children Kath and Ian, as well as her five grandchildren – Alison, Jenice, David, Louise and Rohan. She also was graced with five great grandchildren in Katie, Riley, Amber, Levi and Jack.
Mrs Hehir was described as a woman who “loved her friends and family deeply, possessing a quiet, kind and generous nature”. Her family have thanked her medical staff, Pastor Phil Spiers for visiting Mrs Hehir in Moree Hospital, as well as celebrant Roger Hester and the funeral directors for their service in Leeton.
The nursing and palliative care team at the hospital, as well as Fairview Retirement Village have been thanked for their special care.
