Contributions from the Rotary Club of Leeton and the Rotary Club of Hall in Canberra, as well as grants received from the Stronger Communities and Community Building Partnerships program has allowed Graham Park to take sail.
The two clubs orchestrated the purchase and instalment of shade sails as assistance to Leeton Shire Council’s current work to upgrade the park area.
Council is currently working to construct a proper parking area at the location.
Rotary Club of Leeton president Monique Owen said working together had been the key to getting the sails up and away over the playground equipment at the park.
“The Rotary Club of Hall runs the Canberra Farmers Market and each year contributes funds from their profits to communities that have supported their market through the years,” she said.
“This year it was our turn as we have around four to five stall holders from the Leeton area attending each week as regular stall holders.
“The club (Hall) approached us mid last year and asked if we would run a joint Rotary project and, of course, we agreed. We approached our members, as well as council for ideas and after some discussion agreed to assist in the upgrade of Graham Park.”

The Rotary Club of Leeton has some additional funds it is looking at allocating to further assist with the upgrade of the park, but as yet have not confirmed what this will be.
Council will be fencing the playground area and there are discussions of additional seating in the plans for the park.
“Our club is also planning on hosting a community barbecue for families and dignitaries to celebrate this great upgrade of Graham Park that has been so popular amongst our families,” Mrs Owen said.
