Despite a week of upheaval surrounding coach Marika Vunibaka, the Phantoms still proved far too strong at Connolly Rugby Complex.
A string of unavailabilities saw plenty of players in different positions this week.
Fullback Petero Taitusi moved into halfback while flanker Mesulame Navakayala shifted into the centres, but co-captain Tim Rolls was pleased with how everyone adapted.
“I was pretty impressed with the boys,” Rolls said.
“We had a fair few changes in the week with people out through work and one or two niggling injuries so we had a new-look team.”
They’ve now won 19 games straight, but with so many changes the scoreline surprised Rolls.
“We certainly weren’t expecting that sort of scoreline,” he said.
“We knew they were going to come out tough in the forwards and just had to match it with them, hope we could turn the ball over and let our backs do the work.”
Discipline is one thing Rolls is looking to improve after picking up two yellow cards for team infringements.
Wagga City remain the only winless team in the competition through three rounds but have once again picked up a bonus point for scoring four tries.
