The Leeton Motor Sports Club will host four blue-ribbon events on May 5 and there will be no shortage of entertainment.
Street Stocks, Super Sedans, Production Sedans and GOSA Sedans are set travel to Brobenah Raceway where they will attempt to master the unique 940-metre track in order to earn top honours in their respective events.
For the first time in the running of the event, the NSW SSA Street Stock Title will be held, with organisers aiming to attract 20 to 30 cars in what is the last title event of the 2017-18 season.
Queenslander Peter Thompson emerged victorious in last season’s running of the event at Gilgandra Speedway, so the NSW-based drivers will no doubt be hoping to steal back the crown.
The Long Track Classic for Super Sedans is also set to return to the track. After claiming the victory in the previous two seasons, 2017 Sedan Competitor of the Year and Overall Sportsperson of the Year Callum Harper will be extremely difficult to beat.
Also on the program will be the Graham Bourke Memorial for Production Sedans, previously won in fitting fashion by Graham’s son and local Leeton racer Wayne Bourke, who will also be hoping to score a hat trick, and the Ray Chaffey Memorial for GOSA Sedans, which was previously won by Frank Gordon.
“It’s been a long off season, so we’re certainly looking very forward to welcoming drivers, teams and spectators to our track next month,” said club president Ron Watts.

“Previously we’ve had a couple of blue-ribbon events and a number of support classes, but this season we’ll be hosting four blue-ribbon events, so it’s bound to be a very competitive and action-packed night of racing. We’re hoping to see healthy car counts in each of the classes in order to put on a great show for all of our visitors.”
