Leeton will host Tullibigeal Lakes United on Sunday afternoon at No. 1 Oval, a side which is currently sitting second on the Group 20 ladder.
Last weekend the Greens lost another close game to ladder-leaders Waratah Tigers and coach Clinton Green knows his side will need to go one step further on Sunday.
“It is a little bit frustrating that we aren’t putting these games away,” the first grade coach said.
“We’ve only got the one win to our name this season, but I don’t think that’s showing at all how good we are really playing.
“The big issue is we’re either letting a big lead get run down or we’re running out of steam towards the end of a game and letting teams in.”
Green said this wasn’t a reflection on what first grade has been training as he said his troops had been putting in the hard yakka.
With the Sharks to provide another tough game on Sunday, Green was confident they could put them away.
“You’ve just got to treat it like any other match,” he said.
“We’ll just be worrying about what we’re doing and our game plan.”
In the mean time, Leeton has been working on various aspects of their game in preparation, particularly their defence.
“We need to make sure we’re putting in the effort for the whole game,” Green said.
“We’ve come so close in so many of our matches this season, we just need to be finishing off. That’s our main thing at the moment.”
The Greens training will be slightly different to usual on Friday when they host NRL legend Laurie Daley as part of a roadshow discussing the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs.
Their game against TLU on Sunday will kick off at No. 1 Oval at 3pm.
