The RSL Women’s Auxiliary was founded on fellowship and a desire to care for our veteran communities and their families. Members enjoy the friendship of like-minded women, also visiting other auxiliaries for various functions, sharing ideas and ideals. An organisation that began during the First World War, we encourage women interested in supporting our veterans community and their families, to join us to fufil this need to carry on this good work for years to come. It’s open to any woman over 16 years of age.
Working with our Sub Branch, we raise funds by holding raffles, selling poppies and badges during our Anzac and Remembrance Day street stalls, as well as other fundraising avenues that arise throughout the year. We also assist our local Sub Branch providing the community with Anzac and Remembrance Day services. Part of our involvement is to also visit the sick in hospital and at home.
The Leeton Women’s Auxiliary, consisting of 15 members, have currently joined many other Auxiliaries to make an Australiana themed laundry bag for each participant of Prince Harry’s Invictus Games to be held in Sydney in October 2018. The Invictus Games are an international competition for physically and mentally disabled veterans.
