The rain hit halfway through the first game and hung around for most of the afternoon with two nail-biting encounters played out while Rankin Springs showed their quality with a big winner of the hosts Narrandera.
Goolgowi vs Barellan
In the game between the Rabbits and the Rams, it looked like the team who was able to hold onto the ball the most would come away with the points.
The Barellan came close to opening the scoring only to have two good chances ended when the ball hit the deck before Albert Gibson finally got the Rams first try of the afternoon.
Simon McClure scored for Goolgowi and as he converted his try to give the Rabbits a lead before he kicked a penalty goal on halftime to give his side an 8-4 lead.
As the rain set in both sides struggled for ball control which saw the Rabbits hold their four-point lead until the final siren.
Ivanhoe vs Hillston
Ivanhoe made a fast start against Hillston with Brad Crawford and Tom Lee to give their side a 12-0 lead before Hamish McMahon extended their lead to 18 points despite Hillston coming close to scoring.
Hillston were able to score two tries before halftime as ill-discipline crept into the Roosters side to see an 18-12 scoreline at halftime.
After a great break from Jack Fensom, Nathan Douth was able to bring the Firebirds to within two points of the Roosters before Conrad McGinty got Ivanhoe’s lead back out to eight points.
Hillston’s Daniel Milthorpe was able to get across in the corner but with little time remaining the Roosters were able to hold on for 24-20 win.
Narrandera vs Rankins Springs
Rankins Springs picked up a big win over Narrandera thanks to a great performance from Jamie Parsons.
The Dragons were able to get out to an early eight-point lead as Parsons and Kane Wilson getting across the line before the Lizards hit back through Steven Williams. Parsons was able to get his second just before halftime to give the Dragons a 12-6 lead.
Rankin Springs ran away with the game in the second half as two tries to Charlie Prince as well as tries to Johnathon Streat, Billy Vearing and Parsons saw the Dragons build a big lead.
Narrandera did score two tries late through Troy Prior and Matthews reduce the final gap to 40-16.
