To assist with the process, the Western Riverina Careers Expo was again staged at Leeton High School this week to give students a “one-stop shop” of options for all different kinds of what they could do post-school.
Universities from near and far attended to give students an insight into what courses they offer and the lifestyle on offer, as did businesses from across the region, training and employment companies and TAFE NSW.
The expo is open for all students from years 10 to 12, with hundreds in attendance on Tuesday.
Yanco Agricultural High School year 11 student Betty Dolan found the event particularly helpful.

Having been to the expo last year, she found 2018 to be even more useful.
“This year I have more of an understanding of what I want to do (after school), so it’s more useful for sure,” Betty said.
“I’ve been chatting with a few places to see what they would be able to do for me and their opportunities.
“I want to do a childcare traineeship.
“Everyone has been really helpful. I think it’s very important these days are held.”
Industries and other work forces were also on show, including the Australian Defence Force, police and Roads and Maritime Services.
This year’s expo was bigger than last year thanks to the efforts of co-ordinator Julie Palmer, which had more than 80 exhibitors turning up on the day. Many travelled not just from regional areas, but from places like Sydney and Canberra.
Leeton High School students Siarne Deeves and Riley Cowling have attended the expo for the past three years and found their needs changed each time around. “This is our third one … when you come in year 10 you’re really just getting a feel for it,” Riley said.
“Now it’s different because we’re really having too make some decisions.” The expo will again be held next year at Leeton High and students can expect even more options and choices to help them along their way.
