The Expo was located in the MPC with a full house of exhibitors and a large marquee situated outside the MPC which hosted TAFE and trade.
The front car park hosted the armed forces and Roads and Maritime with large displays.
A huge vote of thanks goes to Brittany Becker our careers adviser and Julie Palmer our careers assistant for their hard work and exceptional management of such an amazing event.
The feedback received has been overwhelmingly positive.
Double the achievement
AT LAST Friday’s assembly we honoured two students in year 11 for their significant contribution to our school with the presentation of double gold jackets to Caleb Watson and Caitlin Garth.
Both students have participated wholeheartedly in what our school has to offer and have been fantastic role models for our younger students.
We are very proud of their achievements and congratulate them on receiving this pinnacle reward of our Merit system.
Deadly on stage
LEETON High School hosted acclaimed Aboriginal performer Sean Choolburra who presented his Live and Deadly performance on Wednesday.
Sean’s comedy is uniquely and very Australian and he is a fresh new voice on the comedy scene.
He blends pop culture, dance, comedy and hip-hop in a high energy, feel good show.
Elijah’s heading to France
ELIJAH Ingram, in year 12, has been selected as one of five Australian Army Cadets to attend the centenary celebration of the Battle of Amiens in France in August. Elijah leaves for Paris on August 4, then will board a train for Amiens.
Program booms
OUR very popular and hugely successful WIN program goes from strength-to-strength with a second group of year 10 student recently participating in “work ready day”.
WIN is a workplace-based learning program aimed at students who do not wish to take up tertiary studies at the completion of their schooling.
It especially targets students who want to acquire a trade, work in retail, hospitality, business administration or similar areas.
Students received on-the-job training one day a week over a 10-week period with the support of local business and industry.
As part of the program and prior to commencing in the workplace students attend a training (work ready) day delivered by GetSet and TAFE that covered topics such as:
- What Employers expect
- Employer forum
- Interview techniques
- Personal presentation and hygiene
- Work safety
- Confidentiality in the workplace
Participants also gained two units of competency (accredited) in “identify own skills” and “develop a basic awareness of workplace practices”.
Some also received a construction induction (Whitecard) certificate.
A huge shout out to all the businesses who support this great program.
Your investment in workplace learning in our community is truly appreciated.
