Led by teacher Danielle George, students have been learning about sustainability, which got them thinking about how they could improve their school.
What blossomed from there was the idea to revamp the school’s vegetable patch and turn it into a garden with all kinds of plants and vegetables.
It will also be used as an outdoor learning classroom on completion.
Outgoing principal Chris George said the concept was a unique one in that the students were really the ones in charge.
“This is just he beginning of it … the students and our families have been really involved the whole way along, right from the design,” he said.

“There’ll be play centres incorporated and then located in other places throughout the school. It’s part of a wider project.”
The P&C has helped contribute to the project, as well as several community volunteers.
