The Hawks head home to Yanco Sportsground after almost three weeks away from their favoured turf.
Last Sunday Yanco-Wamoon secured a win over the third-placed Waratah Tigers after a weekend off thanks to the bye.
A new challenge awaits them this week in the form of the West Wyalong Mallee Men – a team just one point behind them in fifth on the ladder.
A victory to the Hawks will mean a little extra breathing room for the home side, while a loss would see them slip back into fifth, risking undoing their hard work of late.
Yanco-Wamoon started off the season slow, but have been steadily improving as the quiet achievers of this year’s competition.
Their match against West Wyalong will not only test their nerve, but could be a pivotal point of the season.
A win will not just boost their confidence, but could prove vital come the pointy end of the year as clubs head into the finals.
Greens ready for battle
THE Greens will be hitting the road after two weekends at home in what will likely be a fierce match with Darlington Point-Coleambally.
To be played at Coleambally, Leeton will be fighting to keep their hopes of making this year’s finals alive. However, the Roosters will prove a tough building block in their road. Last time the two side’s met was in round four.
The Greens were able to win that match 22-12, but it wasn’t without controversy thanks to several on-field clashes. This time around it’s a case of seventh playing eighth.
While there is plenty of room points-wise between the two on the ladder – the Greens have won five matches compared to DPC’s one – Leeton need to win.
here's a log jam between third and seventh and the Greens know anything can happen, but they need to keep winning.
The Roosters will be tough at home on Sunday, but Leeton will be well lead by their experienced players mixed in with their young troops.
Coach Clinton Green will be hoping for a disciplined performance from his side.
