Tamika Rourke proved to be the standout athlete of the meet, smashing two long-standing records on the way to the senior girls age championship. Rourke eclipsed Jasmine Frazer’s 20-year, senior girls high jump record (1.29m) clearing 1.30m to set a new bench mark.
She also took Frazer out of the books in the senior girls long jump in dramatic fashion.
The talented Sarah Elliott bettered the 1998 mark of 3.70m in the second round of the competition, landing a jump of 3.71m before Rourke produced her second record breaking performance of the carnival, jumping 3.78m to win the event with a historical leap.
A 50-strong team from the carnival will be selected to represent Parkview at the Leeton-Narrandera PSSA Championships to be held at the LHS ovals on August 3.
