Former resident Stephen Holt, as well as longtime community member Tom Thompson are both featuring in the film The Merger.
Filmed in the Wagga area, The Merger tells the story of Troy Carrington (played by Damian Callinan), who is a former professional football player returns to his country town after an abrupt end to his sporting career and is persuaded to coach the hapless local footy team, the Roosters.
Mr Thompson was an extra for the movie, while Mr Holt played the president of the football league and he features in the trailer.
”I was a board member as part of the movie, I didn’t have a speaking part, but I am up on stage with ‘Holty’ and two others,” Mr Thompson said.
“There’s various other scenes that I’m in, so it will be interesting to see what makes it into the movie. It was pretty exciting to be part of it.”

The call went out to football clubs to see if they had any interested people wanting to be part of the film.
Mr Thompson has had plenty to do with the Leeton-Whitton Crows over the years, including assisting with the merger process of the two clubs more than 20 years ago.
“When the opportunity was there I thought ‘why not’ … I had recently retired, so I thought it would be good to have a go,” Mr Thompson said.
The film will be released in August.
