With this in mind, residents have been advised the town’s taxi rank will be temporarily moved throughout the course of the eisteddfod.
The rank will be moving from its usual location in Wade Avenue, adjacent to the Roxy Theatre, to its new home for the next month in Chelmsford Place between Pine Avenue and Sycamore Street.
This idea isn’t a new one, with Leeton Shire Council having consistently moved the rank for some years now to ensure the safety of performers, particularly young children.
The adopted traffic arrangements were brought forward to council by the Leeton Traffic Committee from its most recent meeting.

Council’s road safety officer Stephanie Puntoriero said the regular location of the taxi zone on Wade Avenue will revert to a loading zone and no parking zone.
“(This will) allow families with competitors to drop off equipment required for their performances and to facilitate the safe pick up and drop off of students at the Roxy Theatre during the eisteddfod,” she said.
“Vehicles cannot be parked in this area for longer than three minutes and council rangers will be patrolling the zone to ensure it is used properly during the eisteddfod.”
The eisteddfod gets underway from July 30 to August 28.
