THIS year marks a major milestone for Leeton Toyota, racking up a decade of service at its Pine Avenue location.
While it may seem to many like only yesterday, it was 10 years ago that the dealership at 2 Pine Avenue was opened with much fanfare, effectively relaunching Toyota’s presence in Leeton.
Although there had been a Toyota dealership servicing Leeton for 50 years, a new location and modern approach ensured a renewed vigour.
Leeton Toyota had been operating as a standalone dealership at Ridley Avenue site since 1993. It was the vision of directors Mark and Dean Owen that led to the major relocation project, which began in 2005 when they took on the lease at the Pine Avenue site.
Previously Riverina Exhaust Systems, this building was a rabbit warren of connected workshops, offices and storage spaces between Acacia Avenue and Ashton Lane, with frontage and off-street parking to Pine Avenue.
Major renovations were required to bring the building up to the standard and a complete re-fit of the building commenced in 2007.

Structural work included gutting and reconstructing the building structure and the addition of large showroom windows on the corner of Pine and Acacia avenues.
However, all of this work took place while the dealership continued operating out of the tiny garage at the eastern end of the building, incorporating a showroom, reception space and two-bay workshop.
After more than 12 months of work, the new Leeton Toyota Pine Avenue dealership was officially re-opened on July 3, 2008.
The new building featured display space for up to eight vehicles, a reception area, spare parts counter, offices and customer lounge, display forecourt and parking, as well as workshop with multiple bays and storage.
Leeton Toyota now employs nine people, from sales and finance to technicians, all working under manager Peter Cirillo.
It’s ideal location is convenient for customers - being in the CBD means they can drop their car off and do all their main street errands while Leeton Toyota takes care of their car.
