It’s been a reasonably average winter in Leeton temperature-wise, with the coolest minimum temperature so far recorded on June 25 when residents shivered through minus 1.4 degrees early in the morning.
There were several cool mornings in a row in the middle of July, resulting in some big frosts on the lawn, with July 13 the coldest at minus 1.3.
Most daytime temperatures in the shire this month have hovered between 12 to 19 degrees.
The warmest recorded day so far this winter was on July 5 when the mercury reached a balmy 21.4 degrees before plummeting back to a daytime high of 12 degrees 48 hours later.
In terms of rain, it hasn’t been a wet winter at all like many had been hoping for.
The July total rainfall to date is just 5mm.
In June the amount of drops on the rooftop was better, with 29.2mm falling.
The heaviest falls were recorded on June 9 and 17 when both days recorded the same amount of 8.4mm.
The outlook for the first week of the last month of winter doesn’t appear to be anything too exciting for residents, but temperatures will be slightly warmer.
Temperatures will likely sit between 16 and 18 degrees, with no rain expected.
Overnight temperatures will hover between five and seven degrees.
Farmers in the MIA and across the state will have their fingers crossed for late winter rainfall.
