Mick Bryant, who has been in the role for only 12 months, said the act was “pretty disrespectful”.
“It’s been pretty dry and farming is a big job in itself already – to have to also deal with having cattle stolen is never ideal,” Mr Bryant said.
The nine Angus steers were worth about $14,400 in total.
“Police and the rural crime squad have been really helpful and have put resources into the incident pretty quickly,” Mr Bryant said.
“We haven’t got any real leads at the moment, but because we know it happened within a certain timeframe, we might be able track them down soon.”

Mr Bryant said it was the first time for him in which theft has occurred at the station.
Police officers believed the steers were taken in a vehicle the size of a small truck.
Wagga Police Superintendent Bob Noble said investigations were continuing.
“At this stage, police have been out to look for any physical evidence at the property but we’re still appealing for information,” Superintendent Noble said.
“We’re keen on tracking down the person who did it – we never want that sort of activity to be going on,” he said.
A police statement issued yesterday reads: “The steers are about 380 kilograms with NLIS [National Livestock Identification System] tags and management tags of varying colours (with) a small triangle punch hole in the offside ear horizontal to the NLIS tag”.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the Riverina Rural Crime Prevention Team at Wagga Police Station on 6922 2599.
