The woman, who asked not to be named, said she was contacted from someone claiming to be from Telstra last week.
The person on the phone continually tried convincing the woman her computer had a virus and that’s why they had called her.
However, as soon as the caller started asking more personal details, such as ‘what are your bank details’, the potential victim knew it was a scam call.
The person on the other end of the phone also attempted to have the woman buy iTunes gift cards which would serve as payment for fixing the made up virus.
“I knew straight away it was a scam, but I wanted others to know because this just keeps happening,” the woman said.
“People need to be aware and should know they should never give out their details … or buy these cards.
“Companies like Telstra wouldn’t ask you to do that.”
