The Greens and Yanco-Wamoon went into battle in what was guaranteed to be an exciting match up between the two.
It was the Hawks who grabbed bragging rights earlier in the season with a drought-breaking win over their shire counterparts.
However, the tables turned on Sunday afternoon and it was the Greens who found themselves back on top with a 14-10 victory.
It was a close match throughout, with both sides working hard in defence to try and out grit their opponents.
In the end though it was Leeton who were able to hang on and get the points.
It was the Hawks third consecutive loss, with their last win coming in round 13 against West Wyalong.
Still in the top five
The string of losses shouldn’t be of too much concern for the Hawks, who remain in the competition’s top five.
However, they will be looking to bounce back this weekend when they take on Tullibigeal Lakes United at Yanco Sportsground.
The Hawks are also just one solitary point behind the Greens on the ladder, meaning a top four finish to the regular season is still within reach.
Last time Yanco-Wamoon played TLU they came away with a 24-0 on the Sharks home turf.
If the Hawks can get their confidence back up and play to their structures which have worked well for them all season, they should be able to come away with a solif victory over the eighth-placed TLU Sharks.

Greens on a roll
LEETON have secured several victories in recent weeks and will be looking to keep the ball rolling this Sunday against old rivals in the Hay Magpies.
To be played at No. 1 Oval, the Greens have what it takes to take down the third-placed Magpies, who are five points ahead of them on the ladder.
A win will see the Greens’ confidence sky rocket as finals approach.
