In only the second minute pf the match, Catherine Gray broke through and secured the first goal for Leeton, catching the Temora defence off guard.
From here on out the goals kept on flowing. Ellie Castle secured her first goal of the game in the 13th minute from outside of the 18-yard box over the keeper’s head.
In the 17th minute, her sister Megan Castle followed suit and scored from 30 metres out, again sending the ball floating over the goal keeper’s head.
Another goal in the 21st minute took the score to 4-0. In the 34th minute defender Jessica Bunt cleared the ball from half way only to see the bounce in front of the keeper and skid through her legs, scoring the longest distance goal the women have had all season.
Courtney Smith finished up the half with another goal on the back post in the 42nd minute to end the half 6-0.
However, coach Mark Powter said said they weren’t done yet.
“The girls knew they needed a big score to secure their spot in the finals,” he said.
“With points being so close between teams, goals for and against mean a lot when it comes to finals football.
“The girls were reminded the game was not over yet and they needed to go out ready to finish the game strong.”

The first goal in the second half came in the fifth minute and was quickly followed up in the 12th minute from Gray when she broke through the Temora defensive line to take on the keeper one-on-one, slotting the ball perfectly into the bottom corner.
She then followed this up with another goal in the 27th minute. Smith then secured her second goal of the game in the 30th minute having a fantastic shot from the wing to sail past the keeper.
The game ended in the 44th minute when Gray tried to outdo Bunt's half-way shot, securing yet another goal but falling short of the record.
The side has the bye this weekend and are currently sitting in sixth on the ladder.
