For some months the club has been planning a huge fundraising garage sale and now it has decided all proceeds from the event will be going towards drought relief.
Club member Sue Ryan said Yanco Lions wanted to do something to help the worsening situation.
“Farmers across NSW and the wider areas have and still are struggling to keep their stock alive,” she said.
“There has been little to no rain at all and the farms are being ravaged by this cruel drought that just doesn’t seem to be showing any end to it.

“So, it seemed the only thing to do is to hold a garage sale to raise much-needed funds to go towards helping our farmers stay on the land.
“We want to at least try and give some respite in having to find money that’s just not there to be able to continue feeding their stock.”
Members of the community have already gotten on board by donating items for the sale, including kitchenware, household and garden items.
There's also aged care equipment, furniture, white goods, sporting gear, books and vintage and other wares such as toys, plants and more.
“Items have been donated to us from Leeton, Yanco, Murrami, Narrandera and even as far away as Canberra,” Mrs Ryan said.
“The community have been very generous towards the sale and they are still able to donate items at any time leading up to the sale.
“We are asking people dig deep and have a look in that spare room, garden shed, or that spot in the back of the cupboard where you might have things you don’t use.”
Members of the club will be at the Lions Shed at 14 Main Avenue in Yanco on August 25 August to accept any donations of items between 10am and 2pm.
The sale will be held at the shed on September 1 with food available on the day.
Residents have been urged to get there on the day and spend up where possible to help the worthy cause.
