THE scoreline may have looked like Yanco-Wamoon dominated on Sunday afternoon, but coach Nick Puntoriero wasn’t all too pleased with his side’s performance.

The Hawks defeated Darlington Point-Coleambally 50-28, but Puntoriero said it was far from his side’s best performance.
“Our first half was probably our worst half of football all season,” he said.
“We wanted to get away to a good start and, while we were scoring, it just wasn’t how I wanted us to be playing.
“There were too many silly mistakes.
“We just couldn’t hold onto the ball.”
The match was played in cool and blustering conditions and Puntoriero hopes for a better showing this weekend in the first round of the Group 20 finals.

Yanco-Wamoon will be coming up against the Griffith Black and Whites and Puntoriero said there was plenty of work to be done between now and then.
Numerous Hawks players contributed to the score on Sunday afternoon, with Andrew Smith leading the way with three tries, Chance Tauri and Andriu Tagilala picked up two each and Josh Higgins and Will Barnes had one apiece.
Puntoriero said it would be a big week on the training track.
“Mostly we need to be working on our defence,” he said.
“In a game like yesterday’s you can’t be letting them in that many times.
“They aren’t playing finals and I think it was just easy for us to play a bit more at their level and relax, which is not what we wanted.
“I was hoping for a stronger performance heading into finals, so we’ve got a bit to work on.”
First grade will need to win each week if they are to keep their season alive.
