Mrs Ferguson has been in the role since March this year after moving to the area from Sydney.
However, having worked in Narrandera before she said it was a joy to be able to come back to the area.
Both Mrs Ferguson and her husband work in the medical field and it’s a career she said she wouldn’t give back for anything.
Trained as a registered nurse with a masters in gerontology and business and administration, Mrs Ferguson has spent plenty of time studying.
“Nursing I always wanted to get into … aged care not so much at the start,” she said.

“I kind of fell into aged care when my husband was working in the Northern Territory. When I went over to be with him I ended up getting a job in aged care and I fell in love with it straight away.
“It’s amazing. You get to know the residents and they become like family.
“It’s not like being on the ward where you have a patient come in one day and they are gone the next where you might not get to say goodbye.”
Mrs Ferguson has lived and worked in many areas throughout the country, but hopes to make her role at Carramar a long-term one.
“I honestly am enjoying getting up and coming to work every day … the staff here are just brilliant,” she said.
There are many challenges to her role in Leeton, but Mrs Ferguson said at the heart of what she does is the wellbeing of the residents at Carramar.
“There’s been a lot of changes in aged care over the last few years, especially when it comes to budget cuts,” she said.
“It’s been a hard few years for everyone in the industry, but coming out here it has given me a renewed passion for aged care.
“What I want people to know is an aged care home doesn’t have to be what some people think is a ‘prison’. It’s not like that at all.
“We have residents who go out to lunch and even have overnight stays with friends and family.”
