LEETON SOLDIERS CLUB: Last Wednesday saw the start of the Consistency Singles. Betty Howard played Lee Noble and Jeanie Plant played Jenny Pike, and, strange as it may seem, scores on both cards were almost identical.

Both winners led throughout their match.
Lee defeated Betty 131 to 106 and Jeanie defeated Jenny 131 to 92.
Winners on the day were L Noble and her marker Beryl Breed. Runners up were Jan Munro and Ann Chant. J Munro had a resting toucher.
Consistency singles continue tomorrow with L Noble playing J Plant (marker); J Pike and Lorraine McKellar playing Laurel Cox (marker) B Breed.
Trial ends 9.40am.
Social bowls will also be played, starting time 10am.

LEETON AND DISTRICT: Denise Naylor and Janet Bell have progressed to the second round of the singles championships.
Denise, after a long battle of 35 ends, defeated Hilary Chambers 25/21, and Janet who managed to hold on, defeated Joan Bourke in 29 ends 25/21.
Denise will now play Patti Wakeman while Janet will play Judy Heness in the second round on Thursday.
The winners last week were M Odewahn, S Tyack and M Pete.
Marie Odewahn scored a resting toucher and Helen Symes won the lucky draw.
