JUST one Leeton-Whitton netball side remains in the hunt for a spot in this year’s grand final.
The Crows had their A reserve, B grade and under 17s team all competing in the second week of the Riverina Football and Netball League finals on the weekend.
On Sunday the under 17s who took on Griffith in what was a match that could have gone either way.
The two sides were neck-and-neck all season, with Leeton-Whitton finishing the home and away season third on the ladder and Griffith in fourth.
At the end of the final quarter, it was the Swans who secured the victory with a 40-35 win over the Crows.
Also playing on Sunday was the A reserve side, who didn’t fare much better on the day.
The Crows went down to MCUE 32-21 in a closely-fought battle. The loss meant the team was eliminated and won’t be able to defend their 2017 title.
On Saturday, Leeton-Whitton’s B grade side was in contention to earn a spot in the grand final and a week off in the process.
However, they too went down in another nail-biter, 40-35 in favour of the Turvey Park Bulldogs.
While the Crows lost, they will use their second chance this weekend when they take on Wagga in the preliminary final on Sunday.
