Mrs Hanlon puts this into practice each day in her role as a personal carer at Leeton’s Alf Herrmann Lodge.
Last week Mrs Hanlon, along with all staff at the lodge, attended a special afternoon tea to thank them for their ongoing efforts in caring for residents at the aged care facility.
The event was part of the Health Services Union’s “thank you for working in aged care day” campaign.
“It’s a challenging job, but I love working with the residents,” Mrs Hanlon said.

“It’s a fulfilling job I have to say.
“The good thing about working here is the dementia-specific unit. That’s a great thing to have in a town like Leeton.
“It’s lovely to be able to sit and talk with these residents in particular.”
The Alf Herrmann Lodge is part of the Royal Freemasons’ Benevolent Institution (RFBI) network of aged care facilities.
Mrs Hanlon was one of the staff members to be recognised for five years of service at the facility.
RFBI chief executive officer Frank Price said it was important staff felt valued at work.
“We know that we are only as strong as the staff we have working with us, so making sure that we recognise and appreciate them is very important to us,” Mr Price said.
