To be held on the evening of Friday, October 5 and during the day on Saturday, October 6, there will be plenty of action and things to see and do for people of all ages.
Facing her third show as Leeton Show Society president, Elizabeth Munn said her team is well organised for the event, back to its traditional slot on the show schedule after the Griffith Show.
“Plans are going pretty well, the secretary and treasurer are happy with where they’re at,” Miss Munn said.
“The last two years have been the odd ones out. This year it is back to normal, the weekend straight after the long weekend.”
Pavilion and competition entries have been arriving this week.
“There has been a lot of good feedback,” Miss Munn said. “We also have all of the schools coming in with displays this year.
“Entries might be a bit low for some of the ag-based entries because of the drought, but we’ve been able to keep up all the handicraft and art entries.”
While the drought is being acknowledged by the committee, the show hasn’t been as affected as it might have been.
“We’ll see how this year’s show goes,” Miss Munn said. “I hope we get a lot of people through the gate.
“We’re trying to do the best we can; this year we’re saving money … there’s still going to be all the main things people want to see and do. There’ll be more novelty events that will get the crowd involved, they can get in and have a go.”
The scope of exhibits and competitions continues to attract plenty of interest form the community.
“We want everyone to have a go; all ages, all genders, all backgrounds,” Miss Munn said. “We try and have sections they’ll be interested in.”
The 2018 show will also include two-days of showjumping competition.
