The annual Town and Country Open Garden Day is set for October 28.
Gardens at Billenbah on the Murrumbidgee and Burnside at Euroley plus four others in town will be opened to the public from 9am to 5pm.
The open garden day is to help raise money for Narrandera’s Can Assist branch.
Billenbah dates back to the times of squatters and riverboats and squatter James Devlin had taken up a run there in 1833.
In May 1869 James Edward Warby was running 49 tonne JHP paddle steamers through Narrandera and in September 1873 selected land at Billenbah.
By 1875 Warby had expanded the property to 3000 acres and went on to build a homestead and establish the garden.
Entry is $15 and can be paid at Narrandera Park or Billenbah between 9am and 2.30pm on the day, the cost gets you a map for the gardens plus Devonshire Tea.
A light lunch is available for $10.
Plants will be for sale at the Uniting Church Hall and the Shady Gum Nursery.
