The Colts won the toss and chose to send the Stags into bat and would have been looking to make an early impact with the ball.
The Yanco side had other ideas though as Matt Dedini and Grant Forrest, returning from a one week suspension, got their side to 31 before Michael Keech (1/12) got the better of Forrest (22) who was caught behind by Jarryd Day.
Danyon Evans (3) followed closely behind, and while Dedini plugged away at the other end, it was finding a partner which proved to be difficult for the Stags.
Angus Boulton (6) was able to stick around with Dedini for a short period, as the pair put on 24 runs before Boulton fell to the bowling of Colts skipper Nathan Carn (2/24).
Carn struck again soon after to remove Jordan Camm before Josh Carn (2/14) took the wickets of Mark Doyle (6) and Josh Lanham (1) in quick succession to see the Stags sitting on 7/83 with 11 balls remaining in the innings.
Kyle Pete (10*) was able to help Dedini (47*) score 19 runs off the remaining deliveries to see the Stags finish their 20 overs on 7/102.
The Colts made a slow start as Glenn Vitnell (1) fell was caught by Boulton off the bowling of Dedini.
Nathan Tang and Matt Del Guzzo attempted to get the Colts moving in the right direction with a 34-run stand for the second wicket before Dan Hillam (1/11) struck to remove Tang (26), and Del Guzzo (9) fell soon after to the bowling of Forrest (1/11).
Hugh Collins and Day looked to get the side back on track again and put on 24 runs to see the Colts requiring 38 runs with 30 balls remaining.
The innings hit a snag as Mark Doyle (1/9) removed Day (13) before Camm (4/15) rolled through the lower order as Nathan Carn (3), Alex Crelley (0), Cooper Sharman (0) and Sam Hopper (0) fell in quick succession.
Collins (27) was the one constant during the collapse however it wasn’t enough as the Colts fell 12 runs short of victory after facing out their 20 overs.
The sides will meet again this weekend as the A grade competition moves to 40 over cricket.
