The Ferrets made the brave decision to send Narrandera in although when Lachie Jess was dismissed by Rhys Wilesmith at the end of the first over.
Anthony Craig was able to be the rock at the start of the innings the Carpheads needed before Wilesmith struck again to remove Haydn Emerson (0) with the score on 22.
Wickets continued to fall at regular intervals when Jonathan Doyle (5) became Wilesmith (3/31) third victim of the day.
The dismissal of Doyle saw the Carpheads lose four wickets for 21 runs as captain Sam Alampi (1/11), Nathan Jones (2/14) and Caleb Watson (1/19) took one wicket each with Craig (26), Tom Butterfield (6) and Kurt Jensen (10) .
Dillon Penhall (9) and Ash Cabban (7) added 16 runs before Adrian Axtill (2/14) struck to remove Penhall and Mark Tilyard (4) before Rhett MacGregor (1/1) dismissed Connor Vearing (0) saw the Carpheads bowled out inside 16 overs for 79.
In contrast to the Narrandera innings, the opening partnership between Axtill and MacGregor saw the Ferrets get to 42 before Axtill (19) was dismissed when he was run out by Tilyard.
MacGregor (19) followed closely behind when he was knocked over by Emerson (1/19) while Richard Smith (4) was clean bowled by Doyle.
Nathan Jones and Mat Axtill added 10 runs before a mini collapse put pressure on the Ferrets batting order.
Emerson and Tilyard combined to run out Jones (11) while Doyle (3/10) took the wickets of Axtill (3) and Wilesmith (0) while Crompton (0) was bowled by Tilyard to see the Ferrets fall to 7/72.
With just 11 runs required for victory, Hayden Mahalm (5*) and Alampi (5) were able to guide the Ferrets to a three-wicket victory with three overs remaining.
The sides will meet each other again next weekend at Mark Taylor Oval as A grade takes a break from the Twenty20s and moves into the opening round of the 40 over competition.
