I have recently been given the great honour of being involved in the Youth Mentoring Program developed and driven by Anna Celi of SteppinOut4Youth in Leeton. Anna has certainly stepped out for youth to ensure that each individual knows they have value and they make a difference in our world. So if you have been selected as a mentor, it means she is entrusting you with a very valuable asset.

Our youth are significant and it is essential that as a community we step out and share our experiences in order to build, nurture and encourage young people who are navigating their way in a very challenging world. The Youth Mentoring Program is a brilliant way to build relationships and connection. It is an opportunity to create an atmosphere of belonging.
I am looking forward to this experience adding value to my own personal growth and hearing ideas and opinions from a fresh perspective. Anna spoke a few years back at Chick Chat Coffee Conversations and she gave some simple advice with her passion for youth. She said we can all make a difference by simply smiling and saying hello to young people. That message purely says you are taking the time to stop and show you care.
Invest your time in our youth because they need strong foundations that help them positively impact our future.
Allow them to see the importance of their purpose, of knowing what they value and to establish safe boundaries that promote respect and inspire innovation. In the words of Benjamin Franklin, ‘Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn’.
