After winning the toss, the Ferretts elected to bat but weren’t able to make the start they would have envisioned losing Rhett MacGregor (5) and Richard Smith (2) early to the bowling of Cooper Sharman (2/12).
Mathew Axtill and Ben Elwin tried to get their side moving in the right direction with a 19-run stand for the third wicket before Hugh Collins struck to remove Elwin (11).
The fall of Elwin saw the Ferrets lose 4/13 with Axtill (8) and Maclean Crompton (6) falling to Sam Cooper (2/31) while Ben Killen (0) became Collins second victim.
With the Ferrets sitting in a precarious position at 6/44 after 18 overs, they still had time to put together a competitive total as long as they could put together a solid partnership.
Justin Kelly (14) tried to lead the fightback however when partner Bryce Rogers (2) fell to the bowling of Collins (3/11) it triggered the second collapse of the innings.
Nathan Carn (3/4) picked up the wicket of Kelly before dismissing Rhys Wilesmith (6) and Sam Alampi (3) to see the Ferrets finish on 67 off 26.2 overs.
Small targets can often be the most difficult to chase down, and it looked like it may prove the case again as the Colts lost Nathan Tang (1) after he was trapped in front by MacGregor (1/17).
Alex Crelley and Matt Del Guzzo restored some order at the top of the innings and made substantial headway into their chase with a 33-run partnership before Crelley was caught behind off the bowling of Wilesmith (1/15).
Collins came out to join Del Guzzo and played the supporting role as they closed to within seven runs of victory before Collins (4) was trapped in front by Rogers (1/5).
Carn (9*) and Del Guzzo (25*) were able to guide their side to a seven-wicket win in just eleven overs.
The Colts will now prepare to travel to Narrandera to take on the Carpheads while L&D will take on Yanco Cricket Club next weekend.
