Police, paramedics and Leeton Shire Council rangers were called to the supermarket about 1pm on Wednesday after a 69-year-old man was allegedly bitten on the calf by a blueheeler.
The dog had been tied up at the front of the store while its owner was inside.
The man suffered puncture wounds to his calf, but was not required to attend Leeton District Hospital for further treatment.
It is believed the owner of the dog took the blueheeler and left the scene.
However, later in the day, rangers and police attended an address in Banksia Avenue where the owner elected to surrender the dog to rangers.
Other police news
The owner has been issued with a penalty infringement notice for the offence of "own dog that attacked person".
The penalty amount for this offence is $1320.
The dog has since been euthanized. Animal owners have been urged to make sure their pets are always properly restrained.
