IN division one, Tree Surgeons defeated Faithful 3-2. The first set was a see-sawing encounter with some great displays of rallies and serving. Tree Surgeons’ Grant Johnstone, Callum and Sean Ryan lead the way, holding on to win by golden point 25-24. Solomon Folosaitu and Soliga Alekiteo had a great serving run in the second for Faithful, but it was better court play from Tommy Patelesio and Petero Taitusi that helped Tree Surgeons win 25-21. Undefeated Faithful came out firing in the third with strong finishing by new player Adriu Tagilala and Moji Waqa, Paul Ta’avao and Sai Ratu, hitting their way to a 25-21 win. The fourth set had a long serving run by Folosaitu and with Nick Peterson and Junior Faoa’s improvement, kept Faithful in the match, winning 25-18. The deciding set saw Faithful get out to a strong 7-2 lead, but Josh Martin and Billy Conroy gave Tree Surgeons a complete turn around for a 14-9 match point lead. With the serving then going to Alekiteo, anything was possible, and he got his team back to even pegging 14-14, with only the golden point to play. He succumbed to the pressure and served wide, handing Tree Surgeons a 15-14 win. Best: Patelesio and Taitusi.

In division two, Purple People Eaters had a strong 3-0 win against Savage Spikers. In the first set Violet Wray, Sarah Rowe and Alice Fiumara started well for Spikers, but Grant Johnstone, Callum and Nyree Dunn were able to get the PPE across the line to win 25-19. They started the second set strong with great play by Lousie and Hamish Johnstone, to win 25-11. Luke Fiumara and the Veness siblings Alannah, Josie and Harry tried hard get Spikers back in the game in the third set, but could not avail, with Samone and Josh Martin combining well to get PPE a 25-12 win. Best: Martin, Fiumara and Johnstone.
Locals were too strong in the top-of-the-table contest with High Tree Patrol. More consistent serving by Locals’ Tracy Catlin, Renee and Junior Faoa, helped them to win 25-17 and 25-14. Billy Conroy, Matt Pilosio, Sara and Teala Howe lifted in the third set that saw High Tree Patrol win 25-24. But it was a dominating display in the fourth set by Solomon Folosaitu, Faasolo and Victoria Tapuvae that led to the Locals winning 25-4 and won the match 3-1. Best: Folosaitu, Tapuvae and Conroy.
