Back in the 1950s and early 1960s small fishing groups from Leeton would travel away together to Eucumbene Dam, which eventually turned into an annual fishing camp.
Many of the fishermen were members of the Rotary Club of Leeton and so the group became known as the Leeton Rotary Fishing Club. However, participants didn’t need to be members of Rotary to take part.
Since then the annual trips have continued each November, but a dwindling number of members has meant the group has decided to fold.

While the decision was a hard one, there is a silver lining for Gralee School, which has received close to $3000 from the group.
The money was what was left in the group’s bank account and was formally presented to the school on Wednesday.
One of the original group members, Bob Overs, was on hand to hand over the money to Gralee.
Mr Overs’ late wife Helen was the original teacher at Allambie School, which is now known as Gralee.
The association of Mr Overs with both organisations made the decision an easy one as to where the money should go.
Gralee School principal Peter Hingston said the money would go towards new awnings for areas at the school, as well as a shade sail to cover the trampoline area.
Members recalled many fond and happy memories from their time fishing together and said they were pleased the money would be put to good use at Gralee.
