The Colts won the toss and made the brave choice to send the Narrandera side into bat and knew early wickets would be needed to make to most of this decision.
With the score on 12, Josh Carn (3/25) struck to remove Mick Foster (4) with James Sullivan (1) following nine runs later to have the Narrandera side sitting on 2/24 after seven overs.
Jonathan Doyle and captain Brent Lawrence looked to steady their side and got them moving towards a competitive total with a 27-run partnership before Doyle (19).
Lachie Jess looked to help his skipper get their side towards three figures, but when Lawrence (28) fell to the bowling of Collins, he was followed closely behind by Dillon Penhall (3) when he was caught by Matt Del Guzzo off the bowling of Nathan Carn (2/17).
Jess (20), Haydn Emerson (14) and Mark Tilyard (15*) helped lift Narrandera to 8/134 after their 40 overs.
The Colts were able to make a solid start with Hugh Collins and Nathan Tang at the top of the order. The young pair put on 35 for the first wicket before the Colts lost three quick wickets as Tang (14), Collins (25) and Cooper Sharman (0) fell to the bowling of Foster (3/15).
Alex Crelley fell soon after to have the Colts sitting on 4/56 after 13 overs, and Del Guzzo looked to be the one to rebuild the innings alongside Jarryd Day.
The pair were able to put on 19 runs for the fifth wicket, but when Day (3) was dismissed by Brodie Perram, it put the breaks on the Colts fightback.
When Nathan Carn became the second of Perram’s (2/16) victims, the Colts would go on to lose 5/10 to bring their innings to a close.
Jess picked up the wickets of Del Guzzo (32), Mackenzie Saddler (0) and Josh Carn (1) while Brent Lawrence knocked over Reece Keech (0) to see the Colts bowled out for 91 in 28.4 overs for the Carpheads to pick up a 43-run victory.
The Colts face a tough task as they look to take on Yanco while Narrandera host L&D next weekend.
