Over the weekend the company took out the business achievement award at the Regional Achievement and Community Awards in Orange.
Designed to recognise those who give back to their communities, Southern Cotton was up against some stiff competition, including one group who supports homeless people.
However, it was the Whitton company who came out on top for its work in education, as well as the many times it has donated funds to the community through charities, events and more.
Southern Cotton general manager Kate O’Callaghan was surprised by the win.
“We were up against so many wonderful organisations,” she said.
“To win an award like this where it’s about community is pretty special to us.

“We are all really committed to that side of things.”
Hundreds of nominations for the awards were received from throughout NSW and the ACT, with Southern Cotton among eight other winners on the night.
As part of the honour, the company was awarded $2000 for their efforts.
A decision has already been made to donate that money to this year’s Leeton Community Christmas Lunch.
Held each year on Christmas Day, the event has continued to grow in popularity.
“It’s a great cause,” Mrs O’Callaghan said.
“Christmas can be a difficult time for so many people, so what this group does by having a community lunch is just fantastic.
“Even more so this year with the drought … it’s wonderful people have the opportunity to get together on Christmas Day and we wanted to make sure we could add to the resources the organisers need for the day.”
Mrs O’Callaghan also paid tribute to all staff at Southern Cotton for their commitment and passion to their jobs each day.
“This award is a testament to that,” she said. “Their dedication and passion everyday is second-to-none.”
